I don't even have any ackies yet, but should be receiving them soon so I cannot say from experience. But here is what herpcenter.com says: "Ackies will lay around 5-6 clutches per year with an average egg count of 5-8 eggs".

This will actually be my first breeding project, so I really don't know what makes an incubator good or bad. I will probably try making one like you made.

Another question... "The medium can be perlite mixed with water at a ratio of 1:1 by weight." How do i get the ratio 1:1?

I used a Perlite & Vermiculite mixture. Each part was weighed on a scale. I found I needed maybe twice the water. The mixture wouldn't clump with the 1:1 mixture. You can try it and add more if needed, just don't make it too moist or you risk mold.

This was my first breeding project. With the help of Bobby Hill it was very successful. the only thing I should have done is gotten them together a couple more times to increase the amount of fertile eggs.

I am not a big fan of hova bators. I cant remember the one I used, but it was the styrofoam one what cost about 50 bucks? The only reason I dont like them is how the heat works and here in AZ, the cooler months fluctuate a lot, but as long as you can maintain a stable temp in your house you should be good. Though, when I had it I used it for gecko eggs in the winter and just decided to set them in an area of the house that was a stable temp. I have a friend who tried the hova bator on ackies eggs, twice, and he said no luck on hatching. It might actually be best if you build your own incubator. Theres a lot of information out there for it and its not too hard to make most incubators.

Has your friend had any luck on hatching ackies with anything else?
