I hate doing this but it was the plan all along. When I read about a black and white tegu living in a dark apartment by itself when its owner went to jail I thought well I have one another could not be more work. I set up a time with the owners girlfriend to meet the tegu and it took an hour of searching to find her under a pile of dirty laundry. She was cold and a little skinny, frightened and shy. The owner wanted $300 for her which there was no way I was going to pay for her $200 later she was home at my place.
Its been 6 months now and Kiska has changed a lot in that time. She is no longer nippy (although very food motivated), she eats like a champ and is not shy about it. Over the last few months I contemplated keeping her, but I have seriously started looking for a female blue tegu for Bosco and having 4 tegus would be a hand full considering I am also on the quest for a female caiman lizard.
Kiska would make an amazing pet for anyone, I would be fine if she was used for breeding as well just the male has to be much bigger than her otherwise she will have nothing to do with him. Right now I would prefer local pick-up as she is around 8lbs and it would be expensive to ship. She saw the vet in March and had a clean bill of health.
I have put in a lot of work getting this girl to were she is now and all I am asking is what I paid for her $200. If you got a blue female I would love to trade (me pitching in some cash as well).
Here are some pics of her:
She does mean a lot to me, so I am going to be picky about who adopts her. She got her name from one of the wolves I took care of. The wolf has scenes passed on but this tegu reminded me a lot of her. She is sassy and will do her own thing.
