Eucalyptus Source?

Hello TeguTalk!

I'm getting one of Bobby's Tegus in a few months, and am in the process of amassing all the stuff I'll need.

Looking through through different substrate options, I really want to try either Eucalyptus or a 50/50 Eucalyptus / Cypress mix. I hate coco husk- it either dries out too quickly for me, or molds immediately. And my past experiences with cypress alone have been awful- annoying bugs that would never die, and irritated my tortoises. But I've head that Eucalyptus kills bugs, so it sounds like a godsend to me. Problem is, I absolutely cannot find any, in gardening stores or online even. Where are you guys getting this stuff?

Would anyone with a local source be willing to ship it to me?

Thanks for any help!

I didn't like using the eucalyptus mulch. My Tegu ( at that time I just had two of them but I used it just in one enclosure ) had some shedding problems when I used that mulch. I really don't have any problems with the cypress. Maybe you will not have any problems if you mix them together. I was just worried about him breathing in the strong smell of the eucalyptus mulch. I got it at Walmart. It was cheap, too.

I looked on Walmart's website just now and they don't have any mulch listed, but I'll go in and look around a bit. Thanks!

And I didn't think about the strong odor... maybe I'll go with a 30/70 mix, with more cypress?

Your welcome. I know gas is expensive so you might want to call the Store and have them conect you with the garden center and ask them if they have it. I wouldn't want you to waste your time. You also might want to check out Home Depot or Lowes.

I just called Walmart, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware, and no one has any :( Walmart and Home Depot both acted shocked that I would ask, and a nice lady at Ace Hardware customer service looked it up and told me that they didn't even have a source for Eucalyptus mulch. :(

Is there any way I could pay one of you folks with a local source to ship it to me? Pretty please?
