Try designing on paper and have an idea of where you will put lights. Measure twice, cut once.

I bought this 6ft Beardie cage with a stand last year that I was going to make into 2 cages for Dino and Tricky. Since the stand is pretty much a skeleton of a larger cage. I decided to extend the base boards out to 8ft and had everything broken down to replace the boards when they passed. It's been that way ever since,...so.. it's about time I finished what I started.

Besides there's a just short of 10ft wall where Korben is that's begging to be filled. There will be more Gus in the future,.. so I might as well get her done. Might even push it out to the length of the wall.

Like previously stated have a drawn out plan before hand. Are you cutting your own pieces or having them pre cut at the store. Whether you want it to be wide open and you add what you want to it later. Like hides, basking spots and things,... or build them into the enclosure itself.

Sometimes its better to have things planned out instead of going with the flow, changing your mind here and there then having to adjust.

Best thing I did is have the hardware store cut most of the wood fer me. The worst thing I did was using white drlock and not having it tinted. Also because I am always in such a rush to do things I skimped and did three coats not 4.

My best suggestion... design!

Do not just buy wood and start cutting and screwing. before you buy a single item know what you are going to do every step of the way. Do not only design the outcome you are looking for, but know how you are going to acheive that outcome.
