Hi,

my B&W is now 26" long and going off what I've been told he should be about 6-7ish months old, not the 10-11ish months I was told at the shop.

I was wondering when I should start taking him off insects and feed him on meat, fruit and veg alone. I am currently feeding him locusts, crickets, occasionally super worms, frozen/thawed mice, egg (boiled and as an omelette), raw mice beef and berries (he's not overly keen on too many fruits). I spread these out over the week.

I look forward to your replies. Thanks.

I would continue with the bugs as long as he is able to eat them. When he gets big enough he will start to have trouble picking the bugs up and then you can discontinue. Bugs are really good for enrichment because they are typically fed out live so they are a good way to encourage natural prey chasing behaviors.

As for fruit and other produce, when they are younger they tend to be fairly carnivorous. He might start accepting produce sometime in the future but don't expect him to love it now, not a concern.

My male B&W is 7 years old and I still feed dubia as an enrichment item. I never had him when he was young (he was saved from mistreatment).

It's up to you if you want to stop it entirely, but hunting them can be good exercise and I personally think it's good for his mind to hunt. When I feed them to him I take him in a room and put them down one at a time for him to chase and kill.
