Building an enclosure

I am building a 6x3x3 enclosure. The top foot is going to be removable so that I can fit the enclosure through my doors. I am looking into the framing process and was wondering what would be the best to use for it. I am looking at using 2x4s but was wondering if 2x2 would work since it probably cut a good amount of the weight down. I plan on using 1/2" plywood and glass sliding doors for the front. Has anyone used 2x2's or what are some recommendations.

My only concern with 2x2's is when I got some for making my enclosure doors almost all of them were warped, it would cut down on the weight but the 2x4's are much sturdier.

That is true, they are warped. I just looked through them and got the straightest ones.

Yea 2x2s are weaker and warped a lot of the time when bought. What I do is buy 2x4's and then "ripp" them down the middle at 1 3/4" (cut long ways) with a skil saw or table saw. The end result is the same, but a lot hardier 2x2 then if bought as one.
