Before hibernation??

I was wondering do tegus need to gain a lil weight before hiberntion and do their appetites increase before it halts? None of my tegus ever hibernated so i never really experienced it before, i have a feeling my 2 current tegus will hibernate since they did last winter with their caretakerI was wondering do tegus need to gain a lil weight before hiberntion and do their appetites increase before it halts? I just fed mine like normal. Appetite will decrease you can't help that. As long as your animal is healthy I doubt it will have problems.

I didn't do anything special. It is almost impossible to know when they are gonna go down, so it would be tough to try and fatten them up.

not trying to steal the tread but do they gradually go down or is it sudden? i havent dealt with it yet and im a little worried about food in the stomach. my beardie gradually slowed last winter.

which made it easier and less stressful for me when it came to feeding. he was only out for a couple weeks at a time though lol

Yeah it's gradual. They'll start being super picky, then eventually want no food at all.
