I throw mine in a zip-lock baggy and let them float in hot/warm water while I do other maintenance. If they are larger rodents I will change out the water to speed up thawing. I think the white spots is tissue damage from flash freezing.
Hey Bobby,
A friend of ours kept a possum for some time and found that it had a very short memmory. Don't be surprised if it takes a chunk of your hand after not being around for a day or two. Be carefull guy!
I think that maybe Bobby could have a weekend BBQ and have forum members chip in for everything. That way he could show us his operation in person and answer alot of questions. We could all bring our checkbooks and pick out some new tegus too! How about Summer 2010 Bobby? 8)
I wouldn't worry about the color variations. It depends on the region and the genes of the animal. They both look great! That girl looks pretty comfortable with her surroundings. Oh, and kudos to you for rescuing instead of purchasing!
Thought I'd post a few pics from the reptile zoo just outside of Monroe,WA. This place is a must see for herpers if you visit the Seattle area!
Nice Uro
Huge Blackthroat! Ovbiously threatened by his surroundings.

I used to spend my spare time helping out at the pet store when I was a kid. They had one of those in stock for quite a while. It took a long time for someone to buy it because nobody knew much about it and it was so expensive (50.00). I used to handle it all the time, he was very docile. If...
She's 31'' STL. I plan on weighing her sometime this week. She's 28 months old now and just had a growth spurt after laying a clutch of eggs in October. From what I've read I guess she's an early bloomer!
Looks like you scored another cuban!! Congrats! If you keep going at this rate you may...
I agree with Dave on the cage requirements. They also love natural light and to look out the window. If you have a place like that for your enclosure they will appreciate it. Another thing to consider is gender. Males can be a little pissy during breeding season and the females need a place to...
I thought I would take a little time to post some pics. I'm sorry for not being around much as I've been busy lately. I have been reading the posts as much as I can though. Anyway, these pics are of my lewsii hybrid. She's a real sweety.
P.S. Thanks to puff dragon for the photobucket tutorial...

Hey Dave,
Hope you're doing well! Our cyclura came up with an infection in her right toe that I discovered last week. It was very swollen and obviously painfull for her. I took her to the vet on Monday and the x-ray showed a couple millimeters of bone loss at the bone just prior to the claw...
