Thank you. Any idea if he is a hybrid of some kind?

    I never knew this!

He was next to the sulcatas converted dog house which he has rolled in their poo before and slept in there. The two rocks he tried to eat were white and by the dog/tortoise house...both rocks smelled of tortoise poo. I searched the net like crazy last night and around 2010 there were several...

    New Tegu, possibly malnourished?

I think you saved her life too. Tegus like to bask and sleep alot, but when they are a wake...you know it. They love scratching to move items and are keen on fitting into tight corners...lol. If she opens your cubbard, she will empty it for you. Im glad you adopted her but shame on the...

Mr.Gu ate a rock...need to hear about peoples experience w surgery

Great....(sarcastically)...the vet that took the xray was clueless. She pointed to our university...UC Davis.

    Healthy weight?

Not totaly. He ate sparsley. But when he was done partially brumating he lunged at me like an aligator. Never bit but sent the message loud and clear...this boy wants food and lots of it.

    Red patches

Very nice pattern! The red is very interesting. Mine is a fire belly and I am noticing he has developed colors on his head. The sides of his face by his has burgandy color and his nose is turning a dark green.

    I never knew this!

That is so cool. I noticed, my gu was 81 degrees F while he slept on my sheets that were 75 degrees. I love those lazer heat guns! Now if I can only figure out why he ate rocks...

    Test biting...

Wow. Mine even when we got him from Florida, has never tried to bite me. When he was younger he would slap his tail like a whip. Always feed first, play later. I noticed mine would get aggressive with tongs...so I did not use them. I would leave his meat balls out on his dish and he would...

    New Tegu, possibly malnourished?

Beyond small. Mine is a boy and he is 3 inches shy of 4 ft and 13 lb at 1 year 2 months. So if she was on only bugs...pinky and solid meats may take a while to digest. Ground turkey and chicken with greens and calcium mixed in it will help a lot. Also give boiled eggs. Some add chopped...

    Healthy weight?

Are you sure its a boy? Have you seen his parts when he pees or poos? Mine is 45 inches long and 13 pounds. He is 1 year 2 months old. In the last 2 months he has developed his jowls...

Rescue tegu surgery *warning, graphic images*

I am wondering who your vet is...because they sound so committed. I hope mine does not need surgery but he ate a rock. Xrays and exam at UCDavis is $350 alone.
