Yea they are very curious creatures by nature. When they get outside they can even become mildly aggressive at times. I don't allow mine to free roam the house because I have children under 5 however I have let mine crawl around the room while I was working on stuff and he kind of just hung out...

I think that's pretty normal mine does the same thing however make sure you see the white in his poop as well to make sure he is getting enough fluids.
It's all good I dug em up under the water bin he didn't seem to have an exit hole. Not sure if he would have gotten out but all I know is he went nuts on some roaches and is now basking with buddy all is well
