My 'gu' is quite gentle in accepting food but I still use tongs or a feeding dish for the reasons stated above. BTW: Is 'babaduk' a name used locally or your own name for them?
A two part epoxy swimming pool paint should do the job nicely. I have used epoxy on plywood fish tanks many times in the past with no toxicity problems.
My ♂ Cholmondely has spent the last few months being mostly inactive. He spends a couple of hours under the heat lamps in the morning & spends the remainder of the day in his hides. Not much of an appetite at all. Recently he has been perking up a little. Is eating more & spending more time out...
I would just go with the recommended size for an adult 8' x 4' footprint unless you already have a suitable container to start him out in. They grow @ an astonishing rate! My ♂ Cholmondely (Chumlee ) is just a little over a year old & is 4'+!
I can only agree with the above. Tegus grow @ an astonishing rate! My ♂ is just over 4' & is just a little over 1 year old! He did not brumate & showed no inclination to do so. Most likely he will take a nap this year but has shown no inclination to slow down @ this point.
This is normal behavior for a tegu in new surroundings. The crickets should get her started but don't be overly concerned if she goes a few days without food. Small dubia roaches would be even better if you have them available. She appears alert & curios in the pic which is a good sign. Some...
