Sorry all, a local science teacher has requested them. He will be picking them up. Thanks for the interest, but as a teacher myself he gets the nod. Every once in awhile I rescue tegus and when I do again I will have them available on this site. Thanks again.
I'd like to get rid of them ASAP because I'm already caring for my own and I go away a lot, which makes caring for them difficult. The black and white is very tame, can be handled, but would rather run around on his own. The red used to let you handle it sometimes, but since he has been...
I am located in the Philadelphia area. I will cover shipping costs. I also have many supplies (lighting, dish bowls, etc) if needed. Again, sorry for the lack of pictures, but if anyone is interested just let me know your email address and I'll send pics. My pic files were to big to fit on...
I recently got my hands on another pair of Tegus! They are eating well and growing fast. I need to sell these two in order to afford to pay for my personal ones. The Red has been sexed male. I will cover shipping. $300 for both or best offers. I have pictures, but I can't seem to figure...
I have 2 Tegus up for adoption. 100% Free! I have lost my job and can not care for them. One black and white and one Red. I live in the Philadelphia area and will drop off. They are both about 18-24 inches in total length. The live outside and have become somewhat aggressive.
I am trying to get answers and I respect what everyone has brought up. From Bobby's post in combination with what I've been told by others maybe it has something to do with the lack of care it got as a hatchling. I'll get pics of him up soon. Thanks all for feedback

Well, I think it is based on first hiberation, age, and condition of Tegu when I got it. He was green when I got him in the mail and very skinny. He immediately went into hiberation even though I tried to keep him up because he was so skinny. He finally woke up and shed a few times. He now...
Discussed situation with one of my herp professors. He said the color has nothing to do with the health of the lizard and that some black and whites just have different tints to them. Just in case he examined by Tegu (Freud) and said he is in excellent health
Repeated tongue flicking seems to be one of the common denominator so far. Also, if your Tegu is hungry please feed it before you attempt to handle it, LOL. Speaking of Vets, it is crazy how Savannahs are so popular, but Tegus aren't, although I think, and hope that is starting to change...
