I was kind and I offered my honest feedback. I didn't give the answer he wanted but I did give an honest and empathic one to be fair. I thought the dialogue would be nice. Then it was broken down to me, with my thread specifically tagged, like I was stupid. I apologize if I was out of line but I...
I'm not an easily offended person but on top of saying "btw, HDPE is high-density polyethylene" and wrong since polyethylene is one word, as if I'm a moron, who doesn't know what the plastic is you then decided to continue with yet another post and literally breakdown wtf the meaning of impact...
Yes, and PVC is polyvinyl chloride. Thanks. "It's worth a google." I wasn't being rude. You asked for our opinions. I own a Gu not a velociraptor so PVC is sufficient, it's already 75$ a sheet. May the odds be ever in your favor with your enclosure endeavor.
IMO I wouldn't. I understand HDPE has higher melting and is lighter weight. However, PVC is less expensive and stronger. Though heavier we don't really move around a 6x3 or 8x4 enclosure very much and the stand can have wheels for that purpose. If someone wanted to go HDPE instead of PVC they'd...
It's brumation season also. He might not want to eat. Feed every day and water just to be safe. I'd keep the cool end at 75 ish and middle at 85 ish with a nice hot basking spot but 100 all over is too warm. Make sure he has a hide and that there's a nice cool, deep, damp substrate in the hide...
He doesn't bite or be a crab but he still death rolls and runs all over when I want to hold him. I've had him 10 months, he was wild caught and already nearly a year when I got him. How's your temps and humidity in there? Could he be too warm and cranky when he's out? Also, this time of year...
I always recommend reptilinks. You can feed whole prey without feeding live as well but the links enable me to sneak in all the things he needs and won't eat like veggies as well as all the bones and innards that they need with less mess and way less worry of impaction because it's ground. My...
When I had that problem it was the ceramic part that holds the bulb. When it loosens it affects the ground and blows the bulb. Try tightening the ceramic part against the dome.
Just keep an eye out. Once your Gu gets bigger he might try to eat him or want his own space. Sometimes they're fine and it's so cute! Just don't want any injuries since they're strong critters. Beautiful babies you have.
I make sure mine has water at all times and I will put food in once a week and peek at him but tbh other than the occassional bask and sip of water he just burrows and sleeps for 6-7 months even if I don't adjust his lights or temps. They have an amazing internal clock. My beardie does too but...
I wouldn't use an aquarium at all since it's only useful for a blink and would probably just wait until you have it setup then add a Gu. I honestly would advise against an outdoor enclosure without a heat source; especially where you live. Even if the temperature gradient is correct he will...
