Hello!! I am planning to breed my two blues next year! But first I have to introduce them. The problem is, my male keeps trying to breed my female and he is scaring her, so I wanted to wait until breeding season is over for them, so my male stops trying to breed and freaking her out. So I was...
Ok thank you! My male was pretty skinny when I got him, I don't know how often his old owner fed him, but he was pretty skinny, I feed him everyday, he also hibernated his second year as well.
Ok thanks! My female blue is also 3 1/2 ft long too, but she didn't hibernate her first year, so she grew quite a bit quicker, she is now 3. My male did hibernate his first year, so I am expecting he will become full grown in about half a year to a full year, he is almost 2, and is 3 ft long.
I have read that b&W tegus can reach full length at 3 years, but I was wondering if it was different for blue tegus, since they are generally smaller than B&W tegus. I am trying to determine how much more time it would take my blue male to get to max length, he will be 2 years next month, his...
My tegu keeps shoving his face into me and scratching, it keeps looking like he is about to bite, but he doesn't, does anyone knows what this means?

Well it is kinda hard because all tegus grow at different rates, it also depends if they hibernated or not, if they didn't they could almost reach full grown their 1st or 2nd year of life, if they did, it would probably take them 3 yrs to get to full length, again all tegus grow at different...
Mealworms can cause impaction if fed too much, my tegus have never had a problem with them. As for the pinkie, I would just offer it then put it back in the fridge then keep offering it later in the day, for one of my tegus it definitely took awhile before it would eat whole prey, I even had to...
Well all tegus grow at different rates. But I would suggest to add some pinky mice in the diet too. Also maybe feed some mealworms and super worms!

First off do you feed outside of the cage or inside? Are you hand feeding? Also it could be that he is a little stressed out about moving to a different cage. I think that in a few weeks he will stop trying to nip. If it continues, I would spray him with some water every time he bites, walter1...
My other tegu is now biting whenever I open the cage and I cant even spray the cage with out him biting he is 1 yr old. But anyways I continued with spraying her every time she bites, and the bites have been reduced but she still will bite when she is out
