We have a beautiful juvenile Quince Monitor. He's a sweetheart and doing fantastic but I was hoping I might find more information on him. I've read and re-read the american scientific papers on the species but I'd love to learn as much as possible. I've also done research on his closest relative, the Mangrove Monitor. Anyone else have a Quince and have advice to offer?

I had one a few months back. Is there anything specific you would like to know? How are you keeping him? Enclosure size, temps, humidity, substrate, diet? Any pics of him and his current enclosure?

I had melinus once, which I love very2 much, named Tongky. She is no longer with me since I lost her after big surgery because of egg bound about 3 years ago....and I miss her very much....:(

I think melinus is among the best lizards. They tamed down easily, they are happy and active lizards, they eat readily, and they are very inteligent also....they really brights our day. But (my thinking), they are more nervouss lizard compared to salvator,...probably because of they origin (semi arboreal) and also their attractive coloration also ( I have a feeling reptiles with the bright color tends to be more warry than the usual color)......

I observe my melinus, if they are getting nervous, usually they can have the mild bleeding at the mouth lines, and I have read this is a normal condition, it is caused by the pressure of the gums. I never found the same thing happen on the other monitor breeds.

If I have another melinus again I will take a really2 good care of it. I think they will need the steady cage, the comfortable one, with a lot of living trees and branch, also the big enough basking, lighting, and substrates....they need the tranquility more than the land monitor......

I still have tongky photo I post it at another threat new sumatran water monitor.............
