Burying itself is normal. But make sure you have a hot basking spot. The basking spot should be in the range of 110 to 120 Fahrenheit, measured using an infrared heat gun on the surface of the basking spot.

Al9ng the lines of what Enjoyswine is aying, they need a thermal gradient- very hot basking site, ambient of around 80F, and a secure hide on opposite end in the mid-70sF. winter time much cooler.
