Lighting questions

First I don't own a Tegu yet. I'm still doing my research/planning.

Do you schedule your lights to just come on in the morning or do you stage them, such as having your basking light come on at 0700 then a second one later and maybe a third at noon then off one at a time to create a day/night cycle?

i have mine on a timer but they all come on in the morning and then go off at night...... I just slightly adjust the times due to summer or winter.
