I got him from a petstore in Illinois called pets one, but you can find them on kingsnake.com or fauna classifieds.com, you can see if any stores around you have them, but I have only seen them in a few stores myself :) I'm sure everything will line up when you are ready to ad one to your family :) I'm so happy with him, he is the most fascinating reptile I've ever owned :) post pics when you do!!!!!

So jealous it's not funny. If I had the money, space, and time, I'd look into getting a caiman lizard. Kyle looks fantastic. Congratulations on your fine reptile husbandry.

Best tip I can give, take it slow.

Darwin is catching up in size, we had health scare a few weeks back so he is now putting on the weight and growing like a weed, two inches over the month. Its cage cleaning day today, will see if I can get new pics.

-to chelvis, I'm glad Darwin is doing better, that's so scary!!!!

Wow!!! Beautiful.... My baby arrives tomorrow and I am getting the last minute jitters and second guessing everything I have done and researched. I totally redid my setup again today. If you have a minute can you let me know what your temps are for your setup? Do you use any heat at night if so what kind? And what is the temp of the water in your enclosure and how are you achieving that?
Thank you for your help Im sure everything will be fine my Tegu (Charley) has done awesome.

Scubabob sorry for the late reply! I hope Ur little one came today safe and sound!! His day temp is 130 at his basking spot, but its at a high point so he can regulate it, at the bottom where the basking spot is I have a rock, and its at 115 every day, he does spend a lot of time down there as well, so I think the option of the 15 degree variance could be important :) his water is at 80 degrees, I have a stealth turtle heater in the water, and it has held up to his shenanegans. Feel free to message me with any new questions you have, I hate to speak for chelvis, but I'm sure he'd help as well!! His advise was sooooo helpful to me! At night I use to use a nighttime heat bulb, but he sleeps in his water EVERY night lol, so once it burnt out I never went and got another one n he's been fine. I also keep my house no cooler than 68, so Idk if that makes a difference. Personally is say do it, it won't hurt to have heat on him at night, so expieriment with what he wants to do, because for all we know hell sleep under his nightlight :) hope this helps, and have fun with him! Kyle is the most fascinating and rewarding reptile I've ever owned. I love him to pieces :) well him and Bernie equally lol.

Hey chelvis!!!! How've u been! Long time no talk ;) how is Darwin? And bosco? :)

O! One other thing!!!!! Experiment with every food you can while he's young. Hell b more receptive to it and it will then make it easier for you and healthier for your little one in the long run. I do a fish and snail based diet, but additionally supplement with different foods throught the week. I'll send u a list of what I feed him if you'd like me to tomorrow??

Awesome!!!! Thank you so much and I would love to have anything that you are willing to send. He arrived this morning a little colder than I would have liked but fed ex decided to show him the beautiful east Tennessee countryside. He warmed up and started exploring immediately jumped in his water to use the bathroom then napped on his ramp. He ate about 3 whole snails so he must have been hungry, I have a feeling he may have been one of the smaller of his siblings and not able to get as much food, he is a little on the small side.
Thanks again for your information and I have found the posts that Chelvis put up.

I am feeling better about things since I have my hands on him.
Ill post some pics of him soon Im still getting used to how the forums work
