He won't come out

This Christmas i got a red tegu. So far, he hasn't eaten and is pretty skittish, which i hear is common. My problem is where i found him about two days ago. I noticed he wasn't under his hide or in his usual burrowing spot. After looking for a while i eventually found him lodged inside of his water bowl. I would wait until he comes out on his own, but im scared he might go into brumation. Im not really sure how to get him out with out grabbing him and taking him out with force. Should i wait it out or take him out?

Whats wrong if he starts to brumation?? Its a natural process, nothing wrong with it at all.
