Can anyone tell me how to determine if a Tegu that I just purchased is actually a red x blue hybrid or a black and white? He is pretty much a black and white with red tints on his back...beautiful, BUT I paid for a blue x red hybrid and not a black and white so I was trying to be sure.

Just wondering if at only 2 feet in length the color is truly distinguished.

You could try looking for almost a black looking tear drop under it's eyes, all blues have that as far as i know.Try putting up some pictures that would help more.
