Sweet, wish I could afford that many of them. This winter im going to be building a 4x2x4 cage and hopfuly this spring or summer Brandon will have some black head monitors.
It doent say tame at all in the add. No monitor is tame. This forum is kinda misleading some aspects of monitors. The guy your talking about that hatched the laces is John, I have talked to him many time over the interenet.

Those laces were hatched out by Dave K. He lives in Australia so you wont be able to get one from him. But if you do have any questions, ask him. He's very knowledgeable and has been keeping them almost for a decade now.
Re: any lace monitor breeders out there
Again, leave thme to the more experienced keepers. These can grow to 2 meters long and can cost $3000-$5000. I know of a breeder, but I dont feel you have what it takes to keep one of the knowledge. Please start out with some thing easier.
You would have to find a breeder. There not cheap. Also you have to be more specific. What are you wanting varanus gouldi flavirufus or varanus gouldi gouldi. Either are going to run you $600-1000 american. Leave them to the more experienced keepers.
A nile isn't a next step, there a commitment. You will need a cage atleast 12x6x6. I know a guy who has four niles, one witch is pushing 7 feet and the other around 6'7. There not mean like every one say's. You have to treat them like monitors. Here's a vid of the niles im talking about.

You all seem to treat monitors like tegu's. Monitors are nothing alike. Give the animals respect. That book you reconmended wont have right info. It has to many different species in it. Monitors alone have the most lizards out of all the other family's of lizards.
That could be an old pic, you never know. I wouldnt say the sav needs to go to a vet. Just needs to be hydrated and fed, and proper conditions for housign.
More smaller items are better then one or two larger items. Easier for them to digest and you get to spend more time feeding them. Rat's are better, because mice are higher in fat then rat's.

Actually Kaffir is a prime example of bad care for monitors. You know that 3 sav;s have died in his care. He also will attack you in email if you question his methiods. He is a complete moron when it comes to monitors and he has tried to change numerus monitors forums im on and it doesnt work...
Lol, I don't handle my tegu. I talk to people who have been breeding monitor for up to 15 years, and I get my advice from them. And they will all say don't handle your monitor.
