I know this is an old thread but let's talk more beers!!! Good beer I've tried latey....umm oh yeah...not big fan of samual adams but you guys should try there imperial series dooble bock and stout only four to the pack but worth the taste and buzz (after only two beers)..
My tegu is very pick when it comes to bugs. Horned worms and dubias roaches is all he goes for, superworms for some reason he just picks up, and flicks them as far away as possible then ignores them.
Keep clear of lose hair in the food. My tegu Raausti.. Got a hair stuck in his throat not allowing him to breath. Once in a while he would seem find next minute he was slithering and thrashing his way to nowhere.
I have a thread about it. I also have a vid.. Thinking of uploading soon on youtube..
No ,it was a human hair, not to sure if it was mine. It got in his food bowl. I know this cuz when he was slurping on his fruit mixture, he gagged looking as if he was going to puke. That had never happened before not even with my previous reptiles.

Need to know if this is something major! Looks as if he's gagging, then he will roll his tongue, then thRash his head violently into the ground sending debris all over. I took him out of the habitat. Then he went limp in my hand, I FREAKED OUT! Thinking he was dead. Took about 5 to 7mins zoning...
All the advice I can give y0u is to give it time man, i have a colombian as well. Had him for about six months now, 1st 4 months he was hard to handle but now, hes a friendly reptile even responds to his name. He still puffs and huffs but thats the natural behavior of a tegu.
Well hello and welcome. Well some advice I can give you, is to approach your tegu with your fist. Let him/her lick your fist a couple times so he can know its you and not food.Try to see how close you can get. If you get close enough, open up your hand, and try to slide it under the belly. If...
When it comes to handling your tegu, be very patient, Never reach over them, they might think your prey and attack or worse run off and hit their face, you don't want that, could cause deformity. Also I try not to grab my tegu, I feel like they lose trust. I usually scoop him up with my hand...
