Thank you so much!!! I cannot tell the difference between many bugs, but I will defintely get the fly paper sheets!!!! It's also good to know that they are not harmful to Luciano!!!!!
I changed all the substrate couple months ago, and there are no plants on the enclosure!!! I keep the substrate moist, and as far as I can see there is nothing that looks like fermenting... I set natural traps with vinager and soap in the room, but not in the enclosure, but the flies don't fall...
Hello!
The enclosure of my red tegu, Luciano, has became the habitat of many fruit flies!!! There is no food in it, and I don't know how to give rid of them without harming him!!! Help!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!
Hello!
I am having hard time finding the coconut fiber substrate I used last time for my handsome guy... I bought it at a reptile show in Des Moines, Iowa. So, what are your favorite types for your tegus? I normally clean his enclosure from top to bottom before hibernation, and change the whole...
Hi, Nikki! At least my boy, Luciano, closes his eyes when I pick him up, when I hold him, or when he is in the bath... and he looks happy! When he was younger he would fight when I tried to hold him. Not anymore!
My red tegu, Luciano, LOVES salmon!! I buy a big piece, skin on, and portion it for him. Sometimes he likes also catfish and prawns! Maybe you can try, price wise, at least here in Iowa, catfish is the cheapest option! Good luck!
Hello there!
My red tegu, Luciano, seems to be starting the rehearsal for hibernation; he'll be hiding for a week or so, and then apparently he wakes up and wants to be out of his enclosure and roam around the house. My question is, when he hibernates, should I keep moisturizing his enclosure...
Thank you very much, Walter!!!
May I ask one more question? Should I leave her in the box the entire trip, or should I try to get her out every night, try to feed her, give her a bath? Boy, I really feel like a first-time-mother here!!! Thanks again!!!!
I need advice, please!!
We are moving in two weeks. It will be a 3 day road trip. We are taking with us Lucia, our one year old red tegu. How should I "pack" her? Should I put her in a big tank with lots of substrate, so she can bury herself? Should I put her in a clothed big bag, inside a box...
Here it is! This is the enclosure she has been living in for the last 5 months, that's what her previous owner told us. I am trying to feed her in a different space, a plastic bin, so she doesn't get food aggressive, in the kitchen. We have a bigger tank that we are planning to set up this week...
Hi, there!!
My name is Leonor, and just 4 days ago we adopted Lucia. She is a beautiful 11 months old, red tegu. As me and my son are trying to take good care of her (we are newbies), we are trying to learn lots of things about tegus, so we are very excited about this blog!!!
Lucia is not...
