    Tegus Abandoned

No names are dropped in the article but I'm assuming these are varnyard stock. I don't know any other tegu breeders in the panama area other than Bobby. Wouldn't mind being wrong but in light of all the other goings on these last couple years I would be surprised if I were...

How much do you love your tegu?

Boon can actually lift me, or at least parts of me when he works his way underneath on those extra cold nights. I'm a heavy sleeper so it's quite the surprise when I get up and find Boon curled up, deep in sleep right where I was laying.

How much do you love your tegu?

My GUs get brought in after we start getting freezing lows. They hibernate in the same room in which I sleep and it's not uncommon for me to wake up with a lizard laying on my chest with its head nestled under my chin on cooler nights. On really cold nights they'll actually wedge themselves...

    Boon says howdy

Thanks ya'll, he's a very well behaved boy too. Took him on his first outreach program earlier this year and he wasn't fazed in the least when the kids started hootin and hollerin at the sight of him. :P

    Boon says howdy

Thanks, I have no idea how long he is - never measured him. I'll get an accurate measurement for you when I bring him inside in the next couple months but if I had to guess I'd say he's right around 4 feet.

    Boon says howdy

A few more pics of Boon who is now down for the count. I'll let him stay outside until we get some freezing night temps then he'll come in for the winter - not necessary but I like to play it safe. I'll probably get a couple pictures of him in the off season as he comes out from under the couch...

    Tortoise

Most water turtles eat a fair share of fruits and veggies as they get older. While almost all water loving turtles start out in life carnivorous, most will eventually become omnivorous with quite a few species being mainly herbivorous by the time they're adults. If you can provide clearer...

    Fed him befor hibernation

You don't have to worry so long as you still have a decent temperature gradient for your GU. It's when people feed then drop temperatures trying to force hibernation that issues start cropping up. So long as these animals are given the opportunity to thermoregulate they'll take care of...

    Feeding Live vs F/T

I did not post here to be your moral compass per se. It was mainly out of fear that some poor soul would see this thread and think that putting live rats in the freezer simply causes them to .. I just figured one being so crass about dispatching rodents would have experience with the method(s)...

    Feeding Live vs F/T

I just thought it was silly that a person was advocating methods they had obviously never used. I have no problem with killing an animal, I do however take issue with prolonged and needless torture. You're in the clear though, last time I checked animal protection regulations didn't cover most...

    Feeding Live vs F/T

That's dandy TeguLouie, I was asking if you had personal experience euthanizing rodents or if you were just trying to get a rise out of people while badly recycling information you didn't seem to understand. Again, trying to see if your opinion on proper methods of euthanasia should hold water...

    Feeding Live vs F/T

TeguLouie, which of these methods have you personally used, how often and for how long? I'm trying to determine how much weight your words should hold. The way you talk about "flash freezing" and "puncturing" co2 canisters makes me think you know very little about this subject and are just...
