Mushu was surrendered to me at an expo at 6 months old: he hadn't eaten in 4 months, had two small tail kinks, severe dwarfism of the nose, stuck on shed, and was very lethargic. It has been an incredible 1.5 year journey: his nose completely grew out, his skin is gorgeous with hues of burgundy/red/pink and bright white, he lost NO digits/nails, and his tail kinks remained minor (see pic, last 5% of tail)!
Mushu is a little behind the growth scale still, but catching up quickly; a reptile vet (my research is partnered with) closely monitored his recovery, and is positive he will reach a normal adult size as long as proper care is maintained! Mushu is truly a beautiful boy these days, but his personality has always been incredibly sweet! He is just starting to get hormonal (hissing/tail whipping), which is normal behavior, but he is not a biter! He has a very unique and funny personality, but is cautious around new people. When we takes a bath he immediately sinks to the bottom, spread eagle and eyes closed! He will sit under water like that for almost 10 minutes (don't worry, tegus have proven to hold their breath in the wild for up to 22 minutes!), and often enjoys putting his head right under the running water for a massage!

Because of the extensive time and money put into restoring Mushu there is a larger adoption fee. However, it is at the level/below what most in the industry would charge for a red male this size, and shipping is included (U.S. ONLY, NO Hawaii or Alaska sorry). It also insures a positive adoption that will hopefully be permanent. Mushu has suffered enough, he needs a loving, reliable, and knowledgeable owner for LIFE!
