Only use pure 100% natural lump wood charcoal, not the briquettes. The brand I use is called royal oak, you can get huge cheap bags of the stuff at Home Depot. If you want to be extra careful you could just use horticulture charcoal.

And you posted your experience of something that is potentially very dangerous and lethal to the animals. A 22 inch tegu will lose to an adult every single time. Even if he is half the length of an adult, that's nowhere near half the body size. Any adult tegu could easily kill a 22 inch tegu...
I personally would not keep them together until they are all the same size. IMO it's just too large of a risk.

I'd just wait until they're around the same size, maybe you could introduce items from the larger ones enclosure to the smaller one so he can get associated with the smell. Other than that, it seems to put unnecessary stress on the smaller tegu.

He might not be able to really get the meat off it's quite compact. I like to give my tegu chicken and turkey eggs, he spends a lot of time cracking them then eating the egg out.

My adult male will eat whole chicken feet, but then again he eats anything I offer him even if that would be a clump of dirt. Hell also take drumsticks and chicken/turkey necks, though I do have to cut up the turkey necks.
Good news, he's been doing great! Only thing is, forecast shows over a week of rain and thunderstorms..., I'm assuming then the I should bring him inside?

Mice will end in an impaction only if your caring for the tegu improperly. This isn't rare to see with people keeping monitors. Just make sure your humidity and basking temps are on point and he will be perfectly fine. 110 basking temp at least, preferably a little bit higher. Try feeding mostly...
Still didn't really move out today, so I'm gonna take Walters advice, and stuff either hay or straw in there to make him feel less exposed

Yep lol. He seems very sulky sitting in there, but it doesn't surprise me. This cage is over twice as big as his last enclosure, and He can see way more as well. I imagine this will take a good deal of adjustment for him, but in the end, it will be much better than what he had. It also is better...
In my area they stuff everything but the peat with pine. If it's not labeled 100% pure, it's got pine. That's why I can't use top soil.

Look through some suppliers websites until you find a 100% pure mulch. Then call them and tell them the order number to see if they have it. Thats what I've been trying, but to no avail. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to drive all the way from Alabama to Florida if I want my damn mulch.
